![]() The captain and crew of two were outstanding in the boat and in the water. This company is lucky no one has drowned on their tours yet. The life vests they gave us were self inflate in times of distress. I noticed another tour packing up and most the members had waist floaters. Others had a good time on our tour but there were no safety ropes to guide people to the device and no concern for weak swimmers. ,y husband stated he was struggling and needed help- the guy yelled at him and told him he should have stayed at the float device if he was struggling. The guide turned to him and asked if he was okay. Meanwhile my husband was also struggling. The guide met me half way and yelled at me that everyone knows how to float and that i was exhausting myself and more or less guided me back to the ladder. When my husband and i expressed distress - i was told to swim back to the boat. There was not enough space on the floaty device for everyone to hold on and fit next to each other. The in water instructor was overwhelmed with the number of swimmers. The guide in the boat jumped in with the experienced swimmers and we were guided to jump off the ladder and swim to the floating device. They divides us into experienced snorkelers, moderate experience, and weak swimmers. When we got to the destination the water was very choppy. We were given up inflated life vests that we were told would be fitted and gone over on the boat. We have had some snorkeling experience and we both admitted we were not strong swimmers at check in and asked for flotation devices. My husband and i excitedly booked this tour. After the mantas are gone, you will come back to the harbor. The average time of staying in the water is 30 minutes. During the dive, you will spend most of your time chilling on the ocean floor while the manta rays flipping above you. They come very close to the water surface while feeding. Once you arrive at the feeding grounds, you will douse and wait for the manta rays to appear. Before the boarding, the crew usually teaches you a couple of things about the manta rays and how to behave while in the water. The boat takes you to one of the manta ray feeding areas. ![]() Manta ray night dive usually starts at the harbor from which the boat departs. So if you are a certified scuba diver, come to Big Island during a diving season between May and September to make swimming with mantas more comfortable. The reef manta rays in Hawaii are not migratory creatures and spend their lives in the islands' coastal waters year-round. These beautiful animals gracefully swim, turn, and flip through the light beams, touching their spectators all the way. Manta rays are attracted by plankton, which they filter out of the water by swimming with their enormous mouths wide open. ![]()
